The recent fire in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building showed D.C. firefighters struggling to remove blast-resistant windows.

The General Services Administration (GSA) has developed an on-line training tool to help firefighters recognize what they have and then how to deal with it.  A brief write-up on the course can be found at http://www.oca.gsa.gov/firefighter/introduction.php.  Or, you can go to the course directly – it is located at http://www.oca.gsa.gov/firefighter/index.php These videos demonstrate the level of effort required to take out the blast resistant windows with the wrong tools or the easy way with the right tools.  Knowing the type of windows on large Federal/government/commercial buildings should be part of the pre-plan.
